It’s Raining .. It Must Be Spring

March25

This past week has been Spring Break. Sister, my oldest, started out sick, then me, now Brother and Daddy. The weather has been rainy and not so nice, and money is tight. TGIF brings on a whole new meaning when you have your children with you all week.

We spent four days in Atlanta visiting family. It was a nice visit. I miss my sister and her family, the visits are always to short and spaced to far apart.

My hub and I visited this church, which was a treat. It is an ultra contemporary, mega church in North Atlanta. It is a church that didnt feel like a church, but rather like going to a lecture series and a concert at the same time. The children and youth centers were amazing and I can see how a church like that is drawing in our youth. There were both things I liked about the church and things that I just am not use to, so they seemed awkward to me. On thing that I truly didnt like was the fact that the regular attenders, or members, saved their seats. They have two auditoriums, two speakers, and two worship leaders each week. The regular attenders swap auditoriums by their last name a-L, M-z, alternating weeks in each auditorium. But in each auditorium they come early and put purses, coats, programs, etc on the seats and then go and socialize. Visitors are hard pressed to find a “prime” seat. Anyway, I didnt care for that, in fact it made me see my own rut at my home church and I have vowed to move around the church finding new seats each week.

After church, we all met up at this park for an afternoon picnic. This park allows dogs and even has a dog park where dogs can go and socialize. My niece brought their dog, and we lounged and ate and played and just had a wonderful time. It was fun to sit and watch the dog owners and their pets. It reminds me of a saying I heard one time that dogs pick their owners, not the other way around. It was cute to see grown men with little tiny ankle biters. I think that every dog known to man was represented that day. One funny note, a young couple and just bought a cat, and decided that it needed to be lease trained so they thought they would bring it to the park ;). NOT so smart…. The poor kitty was terrified!!!

Anyway, after Atlanta, home, boring home. Sister is bored! I am mean, Brother, is bouncing off the walls, asking each day, do I go to school today? Daddy is getting sick and trying to play catch up at work, so he is worn to the bone. I am frazzled and wanting my peaceful routine. Yes, TGIF means so much more today.

Estrogen Sucks

March16

And I don’t feel so good myself!

The year of the big “4!!! 0!!!!” 40! Fourty! I use to go through each month never even thinking about estrogen. The little hormone of women. Too Much, Too Little, it was all greek to me. But now, in the year of the big FOUR OH - it seems to be consuming me monthly. The cramps - the tension - the nausea - the headaches! I keep charts and calendars - marking my estrogen progress, is it inclining or declining - it is almost becoming an obsession. (Not really)

I’ve been thinking a little about hormones lately, and have a query about why the big guy gave us estrogen “the bitch drug” and gave men testosterone “the sex drug” seems quite unfair doesn’t it? Of course men and women are different - when their levels rise, (no pun intended) they are blossoming. When our levels rise, well, were at higher risk of everything, and have a lower sex drive. Unfair. Unfair. For some interesting hormone reading check out: Health Science

My quote for the day:

Estrogen! Can’t live with it, Can’t live without it!
