Today marks week two of summer break, week three for Brother. We are doing well…… Yesterday was family day, our son Big Brother came over and the five of us swam and grilled out and laughed and just had fun. It was a beautiful day.
Today is Memorial day and we are going to a lunch picnic with our small group. Between our five couples we have thirteen children, not including our grown children, so it is like a big family get-together. Sister made blonde brownies with mini chocolate chips and I am bringing sweet-hot pickles that I made. . It should be a fun time.
Saman -ta (as Brother calls her) is doing well. We have had her a week this morning and we have all fallen in love with her. She is playful and lovable and funny. She is eating well. She loves to eat everything - she goes gaa-gaa for my coffee cup, she tried to chew my finger off last night for a bit of ribs, she was equally gaa-gaa over the peanut butter-butterscotch candy I made and even tried a bit of banana. I’m afraid that in two weeks when we bring her back to the vet they are going to ask what we are feeding the kitty.
Tomorrow we were suppose to leave for our vacation, BUT…. best laid plans and all… One of our employees was in a car accident last week and got pretty banged up, which means we are down one and the Hub will need to be here to “work.” Camping will just have to wait until the Fall.
Brother starts the summer session at school next week, which is great for him because he will have some structured activities and it will give me and Sister a few weeks of mommie/daughter time before she leaves for the summer to be with her dad. It will also give me a mental break. His constant “going” is mentally challenging for me, at times I need a quiet break where my mind can rest and life with an almost four year old does not provide for quiet breaks or rest.
Well, speaking of constant going, Brother is literally jumping off the furniture over here, trying to show Saman -ta how it is done, so I must get off and go and rescue my living room.
Until Next Time.

Two days ago the Hub had to go to his shop to drop off his work truck; he took Brother with him. While they were there a little stray kitty found her way out from under the building and was blindly seeking out the voices she was hearing. Her eyes were matted shut with puss and goo from an infection. the Hub thought about bringing her home, but was worried that she may be sick so they left her there.
Yesterday morning the Hub came home about 8:30 after going to the shop to get his work truck. He told me that he had the kitty out in the truck and that she was meowing her head off. I really didnt think he wanted to bring another kitty home, plus we both were worried about bringing a sick kitty around our cat, so I said that he should take some cat food and make her a shop kitty. the Hub went and got some food and a plate and started to leave. Of course, my mommy instincts came forth and I thought I should at least of see the kitty. The poor thing, she was sooooo cute. her little eyes all mattie and just meowing her head off. I opened the kitty food and started feeding her right there.
Told the Hub good-bye and that I would be taking her to the vet. Miss Samantha is between four and five weeks old. She has spunk and personality, which is evident in her will to survive. She didnt have worms, and the vet said she seemed very healthy. She only weighed 13 ounces.
We have stuff to put in her eyes, kitty growth food, and an appointment in three weeks for a check up and her first shots. We were not expecting another pet, but Samantha stole all of our hearts (except Hunter of course)!
This morning she ate her fill, groomed herself, roamed around the house making herself at home, gave Brother and I some purring loving and then was ready for a nap. We wanted ya’ll to meet Samantha.

Her little eyes have medicine in them. Sissy has become the mother hen - even more so than me!

Today is the first offical day of summer break! The phone rang at 6:54 this morning. Let the day begin!
Yesterday was a picture perfect day at our house. We go to church on Saturday night, so Sunday mornings are usually spent drinking coffee and relaxing. We woke up to a beautiful sunny morning, so decided that this Sunday we took the kids to the beach.
In the thirty minutes it took to get the kids ready, back a picnic cooler, find clean towels, and drive to the north beach the weather had turned overcast. The waves were brisk, as was the wind, and the sun had taken residence behind the clouds.
We decided to wait it out and scour the shore for sharks teeth and shells, and within thirty minutes the sun was shining, the tide was going out and the wind settled down. It was a beautiful day at the ocean. We came home at lunchtime and had lunch, mowed the yard and played in the pool.
Both children commented last night after church that they had a most excellent day. Brother commented last night as he was heading into dream land the I had been a very good girl today.
Ahh, Summer!
