Life’s Just Beachy

I Can See, The Bottom of the Pool

September27

“The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.
John 9:11-12

At church we are in the middle of a series about evangelism and sharing our faith with others. Our youth pastor gave the sermon and as usual he was very funny and very relevant. Brother doesn’t go to Sunday school, but instead prefers to be in worship with us. Both my husband and I sing in the praise choir so he usually sits alone on the front row while we sing, then we sit with him during the sermon.

The sermon was about how we don’t have to be biblical scholars, or freaks, or weirdos to share our faith. We can simply take the -this was my life before - I met Jesus - this is my life now - approach and just be willing to share or story with others through love and friendship. Anyway. To illustrate his point he used John 9:1-12 about the blind man who Jesus made healed. We often wonder if Brother is paying attention and learning any thing by sitting in service with us, since most of the time he is quietly fidgeting and asking for donuts.

After church my hub and I laid on the bed and were talking. Brother wanted to go swimming, so he was outside “testing the water.” As he came through the back door, through our room into the kitchen, he went from bright sunlight to the darkened house and things became “very dark.” The next thing we heard was him yelling:

“Hey, I’m Blind! I must go rub some mud in on my eyes and stick my head in the pool.”

Yeah. I would say he’s listening.

Tackle-it Tuesday 9/25

September25

This week’s tackle is a bit different.  I made a commitment and gathered boxes.  How does this make a big impact?  Well, my woman’s group took on a new mission project to help a  local mission that provides free transportation to the elderly and the mentally challenged.  We are going to hold a garage sale and all proceeds will be donated.  Awesome huh.

This is huge for me because I DISLIKE garage sales, very much.  I don’t like going and I definitely do not like having one, I would much rather just donate it and be done with it. But since all I have to do is gather items I was going to gather anyway and box them up (without pricing I might add) and bring them to someone elses house and leave them there..I can do this.

Then on the day of the sale,  I will be able to hang out with my friends and it won’t even seem like work. I have a deadline, I have boxes, I get to declutter more stuff out of my house and it all works for a good cause.  Big Impact.

If you need inspiration to tackle any one thing, consider joining Tackle-it Tuesday hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom.  Even doing one thing a week will make a difference over time.
